All Gumoils are hand-signed, hand-numbered originals—not reproductions—and each piece is a true one‑of‑a‑kind work, much like a painting. When I develop an image I typically make a small run (usually 3–6) to evaluate variations in exposure, rubbing and other subtle factors, so every print comes out a little different; because they’re produced from the same plate/positive but remain individually unique, they are cataloged as a “variable edition” (E/V). Numbering is written in pencil—e.g., 1/5 indicates this is the first Gumoil of five ever made in that edition; no reproductions will ever be produced.
